In 1932 the Greek army purchased a few thousand Brodie mod.1916 helmets from the free market (most with damaged liners). Those that were in better condition were given in units of Athens and Thessaloniki. Later, in 1935, after the reorganization of the army Brodie helmets were granted in units of A/A artillery, some cavalry units and Evzon regiments. The Brodie helmet will remain in use in the Hellenic Army until 1939 but from 1938 gradually replaced by the Italian construction m38. The arson of the Piraeus mobilization warehouse in August 1940 (potential Italian energy) will result in the loss of a large amount of m38’s. The Brodie’s will be back in use and during the outbreak of war were assigned to infantry, artillery and cavalry. Even the Hellenic Royal Marine will use them in some vessels. The Brodie helmet in comparison with the Adrian mle17 helmet or the Greek m1938 was too shallow, too reflective, its rim was too sharp, and its lining was too slippery. In 1938 the liner was modified to include a leather cushion to make it more comfortable. The original paint scheme was khaki but they were also painted in green or light brown. Helmets were often painted with various unit insignia during the military maneuvers of 1937-1939.
The khaki depot replica steel helmet comes with the 1938 liner made from goat and calf leather with wool top, painted in the correct khaki color.
