The Greek Gendarme uniform was almost identical to that worn by the Greek soldier of the time, differing only in the shape of the tunic pockets and the number, type and size of the buttons. The KD Gendarme tunic is made of wool to be worn buttoned by a single row of six white metal buttons. It has four large square-shaped pockets: two with three-pointed buttoned flaps on each side of the chest and two bellows pockets on each side of the skirt. The standard Greek Gendarmerie leather belt issued to all personnel is held high above the waist by means of two brass hooks stitched at the side seams of the tunic.Tunic, pocket flaps and cuffs buttoned with three different metal buttons bearing the Royal Crown. The collar of the tunic is of the stand & fold type. Tunic cams with the white shoulder cords (distinctive mark for both men and officers, who wore ‘silver’ of the Royal Gendarmerie) and the blue-black Colour-of-Service collar patches and the detachable shoulder straps made of the same dark shade fabric.
